S² Marketing Group goes to market differently than every other multi-line rep company in the Southeast. Steve Seifert and Steve Rater are interchangeable in every account in their territory. All other companies split the territory geographically. S² Marketing Group calls on the same large accounts in each city to reinforce their brands more frequently. Based on each other’s different relationships with B and C accounts, the sales calls in each city are different. Based on past performance, this system has been most effective for both distributor and supplier.
How we go to market
S² Marketing Group goes to market several different ways. Each strategy is well planned and organized throughout the year to achieve the maximum amount of exposure and territory penetration.
Sales Calls
Sales calls are the most effective way to educate, motivate and persuade the customer. The majority of their time is spent in the customer’s offices. Appointments are made prior to the sales call and each call lasts an average of one hour. Seventy percent of S² Marketing Group’s time is allocated to making sales calls to key customers and prospecting for new customers.
Regional Shows
S² Marketing Group is a member of all Regional Associations in the Southeast. It is another opportunity to get exposure for the suppliers S² Marketing Group represents.
Showtime Traveling Show
This traveling show consists of nine other multi-line reps and is the longest running traveling show in the Southeast. The show exhibits at key cities in the Southeast. It arrives the night before for set-up and the show starts the following morning. Approximately ten to twelve cities are covered and the entire show usually concludes the end of January or first part of February. This has been the most cost effective way to see the majority of the customers early in the year, show new products and distribute catalogs.
End-User Shows
S² Marketing Group exhibits at select distributor end-user shows. Distributors invite factory representatives and multi-line reps to exhibit and invite their customers to the show. It is the one chance to sell directly to the end-user and brand the suppliers S² Marketing Group represents. In many cases, purchase orders are written during the shows and directed to the appropriate supplier.
Email and Social Media
S² Marketing Group’s email list contains approximately 2,000 active and receptive sales people. It is an effective way to stay in front of the customers with specials, new products or services, and news. These are sent on a regular basis. We are also utilizing Facebook, Twitter and other social media opportunities to assist in the selling process. Social media will increasingly be an important part of S2 Marketing Group’s sales strategy.
